Zomakton is somatropin and agonist of a somatropin. Zomakton is applied for:

• long therapy of children with the hypophysial growth inhibition connected with insufficient production and/or secretion of growth hormone and long therapy of the growth inhibition connected with a syndrome of Turner confirmed with the chromosomal analysis.

Structure

• 1 bottle contains a somatropina of 4 mg;
• excipients: 1 bottle with powder contains attracts (E 421), 1 ampoule with solvent contains sodium chloride, benzyl alcohol (9 mg/ml), water for injections.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to a somatropin or to any other components of drug.

Zomakton should not be applied to children at whom epiphyses of bones were already closed.

should not be applied somatropin to patients with signs of active tumoral process. Antineoplastic therapy needs to be finished prior to therapy by growth hormone, signs of intracranial tumoral growth have to be absent. At signs of tumoral growth the treatment should be stopped.

Route of administration

Deficiency of growth hormone.

Usually recommend the general dose of 0.17-0.23 mg/kg of body weight (in recalculation - 4.9 mg/sq.m-6.9 of mg/sq.m of surface area of a body) in a week to distribute on 6-7 subcutaneous injections (respectively a daily dose of 0.02-0.03 mg/kg of body weight, or 0.7-1 mg/sq.m). It is not necessary to exceed the general week dose of 0.27 mg/kg, or 8 mg/sq.m (according to a daily dose to 0.04 mg/kg).

Turner's Syndrome.

Usually recommended dose of 0.33 mg/kg of body weight (about 9.86 mg/sq.m) in a week is distributed on 6 - 7 subcutaneous injections (respectively a daily dose - 0.05 mg/kg of body weight, or 1, 40 - 1.63 mg/sq.m).

Feature of use

for long therapy of children with the growth inhibition caused by Prader's syndrome - Willie confirmed genetically if it is not accompanied by the diagnosis of insufficiency of growth hormone. There are messages about a sleepy apnoea and the sudden death connected using growth hormone in pediatric practice at patients with Prader's syndrome - Willie which had one or several of the following risk factors: high degree of obesity, obstruction of upper airways in the anamnesis, sleepy an apnoea or an undetected respiratory infection.

Overdose

should not exceed the recommended dose to Zomakton.

Despite the absence of data on overdose Zomakton, the acute overdose can cause an initial hypoglycemia behind which there comes the hyperglycemia.

Side effects

from the system of blood and lymphatic system: anemia.

from a cardiovascular system: tachycardia, arterial hypertension (at adults), arterial hypertension (at children).

from organs of hearing and a vestibular mechanism: dizziness.

from an endocrine system: hypothyroidism.

from an organ of sight: papilledema, diplopia.
