Description

Maxim Butchenko’s new book is the history of modern Ukraine, shown through the prism of the destinies of three people who went through the military confrontation in Donbass and, by chance, ended up in the same cell in the Lukyanovsky pre-trial detention center. The main character, Russian officer Ilya Kizimenko, who fought in a Ukrainian volunteer battalion, ends up in a cell with miner Lyokha, who joined the “militia” after the death of his family, and old man Pyotr Nikitich, who dreamed of seeing the sea, but found himself in one of the “basements” of “Novorossiya” . Three people - three positions. The situation became especially tense when it turned out that Ilya was guilty of the death of his wife and son Lyokha. For three hours, step by step, word by word, they again let the war pass through them, ready to kill each other at any moment. Will they be able to reconcile, return to the life they lost, return to themselves in order to become people and not killing machines?..
