vocal ensemble to record the song which he wrote with the wife Lona Stephens, on the childrens rhyme "Ring around Rosi".
Arranger Arti Butler remembers that Spector "asked me to listen to the song... I decided that in its current form it has no potential, but I heard it in my head. On told: "Go to studio and make what you hear, and I will pay for it". Butler prepared a backing track for "Sally"... in the Broadway studio in Ad Sullivans Theatre. Despite widespread information that drums were played by Buddy Miles Butler claims that, except for guitar parties (Al Gorgoni and Karl Lynch), he played all instruments on a track.

Sessions took place within a week, and their cost was 60,000 dollars, unreasonable amount of time and money for one track. According to Johnny Louise Richardson: "Spector involved any who came to studio this week in record. Originally, I think, he had about 20 voices on "Sally...".
Butler remembers that Spector heard a track only when it was finished, he hated it. On was very angry. On felt that I spent his money". Butler lost a track to Gerry Leyber and Mike Stoller who suggested to buy it from Spector: interest of the duet forced Spector to reconsider the relation to "Sally...", and it let out her as a single of The Jaynetts group with a tool path on the party of B. Butler claimed that "Sally"... brought it 3 dollars.
Engineer of record was John the Item "Jack" Sullivan.
