Alpha Centauri is the second studio album of the German Tangerine Dream group and the first album on which the group used synthesizers. The album was released in 1971. This work in many respects anticipated emergence of the Berlin school of electronic music.
Album called in honor of one of the next stars in our galaxy became a little more successful, than the previous album, Electronic Meditation (1970). Muzyka was — as it is possible to assume from the name — much more space, than on their first release. This time she is devoted to space flight, both very silent and floating sounds illustrate immensity of space. All this still very experimental type of music, but after all it is not similar to completely improvisational music of Electronic Meditation at all. This time, however, besides more traditional tools, on an album the real electronic tool — VCS3 synthesizer appeared! Etos
