On this album synthesizers were for the first time used. The Coming Soon song was born as tool composition even during recording of the album of Jazz, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Sail Away Sweet Sister and Save Me songs were written down in June-July, 1979, other songs were recorded from February to May, 1980. The title song of a disk — "Play the Game" — often sounded at concerts, and "Another One Bites the Dust" — is almost constant. Freddie Mercury in general very much liked this song, as well as all album which they with John Dickon considered the best.
