Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. Pyrantelum — the anthelminthic medicament active at treatment of diseases, the caused round worms. Pyrantelum blocks motive nerve terminations of nematodes, causing death of parasites owing to paralysis of muscles. parasites leave from intestines peristaltic movements. does not razzdrazhat a mucous membrane of intestines and does not lead to migration of worms. harmful effects of Pyrantelum extends to parasites both in an early phase of their development, and on puberal forms, but has no effect on larvae during migration in fabrics. medicament is used at an invasion pinworms (enterobius vermicularis) and ascarids (ascaris lumbricoides). maybe will be applied at invasions by a hookworm (necator americanus).

Pharmacokinetics. After reception, medicament is soaked up in insignificant quantity in a GIT. About 7% are removed with urine in not changed look and partially in the form of metabolites. More than 50% of the accepted Pyrantelum are removed with a stake.

Indication

Enterobiosis and an ascaridosis at children and adults, a dochmiasis.

Use

to Children and adults in an enterobiosis, an ascaridosis the average dose makes 10–12 mg/kg of body weight on 1 reception:

to children up to 6 months – ½ measures of suspension on 10 kg of body weight on 1 reception;

adult with body weight to 75 kg – 3 measures on 1 reception;

– 4 measures on 1 reception.

At treatment of an enterobiroz for improvement of effect is recommended to follow accurately the rules of personal hygiene (especially to children) and to repeat a course of treatment in 3 weeks after previous.

At an ankilostomidoza in case of a heavy invasion in endemic zones appoint in a dose 20 mg/kg of body weight a day to 1–2 receptions for 2–3 days:

to children aged up to 6 months – 5 ml (250 mg) — 1 measure on 10 kg of body weight a day;

adult with body weight to 75 kg – 30 ml (1500 mg) — 6 measures a day;

– 40 ml (2000 mg) – 8 measures a day.

At treatment of an invasion of Ankylostoma duodenale.

To packing applies a measure (5 ml) with divisions.

Contraindication

Increased individual sensitivity to drug. simultaneous use of piperazin. to avoid use of Pyrantelum during treatment of a myasthenia.

Drug is usually well transferred by

. the following disturbances are in rare instances possible:

from bodies of a GIT: nausea, vomiting, disturbance of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, tenesmus;

from nervous system: fatigue, weakness, paresthesia, ataxy, headache, dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness;

from skin: urticaria, rash on skin;

gepatobiliarny disturbances: increase in level of hepatic transaminases;

others: hyperthermia, congestion of a nose, disorder of vision.

Special instructions

with care medicament in abnormal liver functions (temporarily increases level asat). in time treatment not to apply depletive. in an enterobiosis it is necessary to carry out simultaneous treatment of all family members. after completion of treatment it is necessary to conduct control researches a calla on existence of eggs of parasites. for prevention of repeated infection it is recommended to follow the rules of personal hygiene accurately.

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast. In pilot studies on animals the data on teratogenic effect of medicament are absent. However, considering lack of controlled researches on use of Pyrantelum during pregnancy and feeding by a breast, prescribing of medicament during these periods is not recommended. Drug treatment during pregnancy is possible only if, according to the doctor, the advantage for mother exceeds potential danger to a fruit.

In case of need the Pyrantelum medicament treatment needs to stop breastfeeding.

Children. Apply at children aged from 6 months. It is necessary to appoint with care to children under 2 years.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of vehicles or work with other mechanisms. Dizziness, drowsiness and weakness which can note occasionally at the Pyrantelum medicament treatment can influence speed of response at control of vehicles and break ability to perform work with cars and mechanisms.

Interaction

Pyrantelum can increase theophylline level in blood plasma. simultaneous use of piperazin slows down effect of Pyrantelum.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, a spastic abdominal pain, diarrhea, a headache, drowsiness or insomnia, excitement, rash on skin, damages of a liver.

Treatment: gastric lavage and intake of hydrochloric depletive. Symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions
