Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. dekspantenol — the predecessor of pantothenic acid also has the same biological effect, as well as pantothenic acid. pantothenic acid and its derivatives are the water-soluble vitamins which are a component of a coenzyme and which in the form of a coenzyme acetyl-koa participates in cellular metabolism. pantothenic acid is necessary for formation and regeneration of skin and mucous membranes. at external use dekspantenol / panthenol accelerates processes of epithelization and scarring of the injured skin and mucous membranes.

. Data on mutagen, teratogenic or cancerogenic effect of medicine are absent.

Pharmacokinetics. Dekspantenol well gets into skin cells and a mucous membrane where it is transformed to pantothenic acid. The pantothenic acid which got to a system blood-groove collects in body tissues, is not metabolized and removed in not changed look (60–70% with urine, the rest — with a stake).

Indication

Drug is used in the following cases:

• for acceleration of healing and epithelization of skin at microdamages (not heavy burns and grazes); at irritation of skin (for example, after performing radiation therapy, phototherapy or ultra-violet radiation); at chronic ulcers of skin and decubituses;
• for prevention and treatment of the cracked or rough and dry skin;
• for regular preventive care for mammary glands of mothers nursing and for treatment of irritations and nipple cracks;
• for care for babies: prevention and treatment of a diaper dermatitis;
• for processing of skin of patients in time and after topical administration of GKS.

Use

Treatment of superficial wounds of any origin and prevention of the cracked, dry or rough skin: ointment is applied a thin layer on affected areas of skin, 1 or several times in day if it is necessary.

mammary gland Care at nursing: to apply ointment on nipples after each feeding by a breast.

Care for babies: to apply ointment after each change of a diaper (diapers).

Duration of application is defined by the doctor individually depending on a look and a course of the disease.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to active ingredient or other components of medicine.

Side effects

reactions of hypersensitivity, including allergic dermatitis, the naggers, an erythema, a dieback, rash, a small tortoiseshell, irritation of skin, inflammation and bubbles. lanolin, potassium the sorbate and lanolin alcohol which are contained in composition of medicine can cause local allergic reactions (for example contact dermatitis).

on the becoming wet wounds.

When putting ointment its durability and, respectively, efficiency of application of the last can decrease by sites of skin of genitals and a perianal zone and simultaneous use of condom.

Use during pregnancy and feeding by a breast. There are no bases to consider that external use of medicine during pregnancy and feeding by a breast is risky. During pregnancy, medicament should be used on doctor's orders.

At use of medicine for treatment of nipple cracks before feeding of the child needs to raise the remains funds by means of a napkin, to wash a nipple and skin around with warm boiled water.

Children. Drug is used at children of different age groups, including babies.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of vehicles or work with other mechanisms. Does not influence.

Interaction

Dekspantenol can strengthen action of the depolarizing muscle relaxants (chloride succinylcholine, a bromide dekametoniya) and to weaken action of not depolarizing muscle relaxants, thanks to ability to stimulate synthesis of acetylcholine.

and, respectively, is considered in special literature as non-toxic. the hypervitaminosis is not described.
