Pharmacological properties

Main active ingredients of a plantain lance-leaved are slime, iridoidny glycosides (aukubin, katapol), fenolkarbonovy acids (chlorogenic acid) and their glycosides (verbaskozid), saponins, flavonoids, tannins. thanks to these substances the plantain lance-leaved has anti-inflammatory, sekretolitichesky and antibacterial properties. dilutes a phlegm, promotes expectoration.

Plantain lance-leaved, increasing fagotsitozny activity of granulocytes and synthesis of interferon, influences the immune system of an organism.

Water extract of a plantain lance-leaved accelerates coagulation of in vitro and in vivo. It was mentioned also that water extract of a plantain accelerates growth of an epithelium and scarring in wounds and reduces hyperaemia.

Extract of a plantain reduces toxicity of tsitostatik. Aukubin renders activity in protection of a liver against poisoning with tetrachloride carbon and α-amanitine (poisonous mushroom).

Indication

Acute inflammations of airways which are followed by cough.

Use

Each 2–3 h (5–7 times a day) to children at the age of 2–6 years on ½ teaspoons (2.5 ml), 6–12 years — on 1 teaspoon (5 ml), adults and children are more senior than 12 years — on 1 tablespoon (15 ml). duration of treatment is defined individually, but averages 5–7 days. if during this term the condition of the patient does not improve, it is necessary to consult with the doctor of rather further application.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to medicine components. hereditary intolerance of fructose, syndrome of violation of absorption of glucose galactose and deficiency of invertase-isomaltase.

Side effects

At persons with hypersensitivity allergic reactions, rash on skin, an itch.

Special instructions

100 ml of medicine 22.43 g of sucrose and 13.75 g of fructose. it should be considered sick diabetes and to patients with intolerance of any sugar. potassium the sorbate which is contained in medicament is harmful to the persons keeping to a low-calorie diet.

With care use medicament at patients with hyperacid gastritis, stomach ulcer with hyperoxemia, a reflux esophagitis.

Children. Because of the content in peppermint oil medicament this medicine should not be applied at children under 2 years.
