"My Guy" is the hit of 1964 which is written down Mary Wells for a label of Motown. Written and produced by Smokey Robinson from The Miracles.
"My Guy" became the biggest hit for all career Wells, the first female star of Motown, and on May 16, 1964 reached top of a chart of the pop singles Billboard Hot 100. Pesnya headed a Cashbox magazine R&B chart within seven weeks. "My Guy" became also the last hit Wells for Motown, except for the duets which she wrote down together with Marvin Gaye. Conditions allowed to terminate Wells the contract at her discretion after she reaches the majority. Inspired with the ex-husband, Wells broke off the contract with Motown and signed the contract with 20th Century Fox in hope for increase a royalty and possible roles at cinema. Nevertheless, a pit Wells did not reach those heights which were in Motown, and it any more never had such hit as "My Guy".
