Lipid-lowering drug from the statin group. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor.
If you have been diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia, you cannot ignore the advice of your doctor. You have been prescribed a drug, and you are thinking how to buy Lipitor for a patient with hypercholesterolemia. Contact us, we will help you with the order of the drug and give you detailed advice if you have any questions.
Mechanism of action
Lipitor reduces the level of cholesterol and lipoproteins in the blood plasma while inhibiting the activity of HMG-CoA reductase, cholesterol synthesis in the liver and an increase in the number of hepatic LDL receptors on the cell surface, which leads to increased delight and catabolism of LDL.
The drug leads to a reduced formation of LDL, to a pronounced and sustained increase in the activity of LDL receptors. Reduces the level of LDL in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, resistant to treatment with other lipid-lowering drugs.
Application protocol
The drug is taken orally, regardless of food intake. The initial dose of Lipitor is 10 mg once a day. The maximum daily dose is 80 mg once a day.
Efficiency
According to the results of clinical studies, Lipitor significantly reduces the risk of ischemic complications (including death from myocardial infarction), the risk of re-hospitalization through angina pectoris, accompanied by signs of myocardial ischemia
Indications
heterozygous familial and non-familial (primary) hypercholesterolemia, by Frederickson type IIa), combined hyperlipidemia (by Frederickson type IIb and III), dysbetalipoproteinemia (by Frederickson type III) (in addition to diet), familial endogenous hypertriglyceridemia (by type IV), which not amenable to correction with diet.
homozygous hereditary hypercholesterolemia (in addition to hypolipidemic therapy, including autohemotransfusion of blood purified from LDL).
cardiovascular diseases against the background of dyslipidemia
secondary prevention to reduce the overall risk of death, myocardial infarction and re-hospitalization for angina pectoris.
