MKX 18-55mm, as well as MKX 50-135mm — the first completely manual film lens in range X. It weighs only about 1 kilogram, covers focal distance from 27 to 84 mm (35-mm equivalent), and constant value of a diaphragm, T2.9, allows to gain the small depth of field and beautiful effect a side.

Optical circuit consists of 22 glass elements in 17 groups, six super-low-disperse lenses of Super ED and two elements from the low-disperse ED glass.

Lens is equipped with three rings of management for adjustment of focus, scaling and a diaphragm with a step of gear wheels 0.8M. Rotation of a ring of focusing is 200 °. The front focusing group of elements of a lens and group of elements of scaling are controlled independently of each other. It allows to suppress focus shift when scaling that at change of scale the repeated focusing was not required. The optical-mechanical design of a lens excludes a time delay, as in an electrical system of management.

MKX18-55mm has function macro which allows to make a plan close. The lens sizes — 87 mm × 206.6 mm, a thread diameter under the filter — 82 mm.
