The homeland of turmeric is India, and it was from there that it came to us. It has been known as a spice for 2500 years. Traders from India transported it and sold it throughout Europe, even the Chinese began to grow turmeric in order to also make money by selling spices. In Greece they called it yellow ginger (the root is very similar to ginger root, only thinner and bright yellow).

Now turmeric is known all over the world; it is sold ground, whole, and made into various mixtures of spices, which often include turmeric.

Ingredients: essential oil, starch and curcumin.

Turmeric is widely used in cooking; it is added to various meat and fish dishes. Turmeric is often used in preparing pilaf (there are many recipes, but each one contains turmeric). It is also one of the few spices that can be combined with any spice.

Use of turmeric in medicine:
- for facial care (for example, they make various masks);
- as a means for weight loss (accelerates metabolism);
- significantly increases appetite;
- used for liver and pancreas diseases;
- strengthen hair, etc.
