Frank Marino is probably the most underappreciated great guitarist of all time. His work has always been consistently excellent. On Real Live, Marinos guitar work balances speed, tone, soul, and sophistication. Disc one highlights include a blistering rendition of Hendrixs Voodoo Chile, and extended workout on Hes Calling, molten interpretation of Hendrixs Red House, jazzy jam Poppy, and an epic version of Juggernauts Stories Of A Hero, complete with an improvised prelude. Disc two includes a mixture of psychedelic tone poetry (Strange Universe) of hard-hitting rock (Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame) of slamming fusion (Tales Of The Unexpected), and all-out sonic warfare (Electric Reflections Of War). Marino is in fine form here, and although this live set is not the relenteless end-to-end sonic assault that Mahogany Rush Live was, it is more varied and shows more sides of Marinos playing. A must have for fans of great guitar playing in a live setting.
