This CDS is a must only for completists and hardcore fans, especially those that want to hear Beck sing again (hes on two tracks). Becks solo work is excellent - even the addition of Jimmy Halls histrionic vocals cannot diminish the sheer audacity and skill of one of the best guitarists in the world. Halls not a bad singer [hes amazing] yet it seems his vocal style was of its period. Up against Rod Stewart, theres no comparison. The track People Get Ready is phenomenal, and shouldve been a bigger hit. Check out the second track to get an idea of what Beck mightve sounded like firing up an Eighties Hair Metal band (via Mike Oldfield). While the song itself is rubbish, theres something to be gained from hearing it. The rest is dross, and suffers particularly because its bracketed by two of Becks best albums, There And Back and Guitar Shop.
