Vadim Alekseyevich Kozin (was born on March 21 (on April 3), 1903 in St. Petersburg — left on December 19, 1994 in Magadan) — the most famous Soviet crooner (lyrical tenor), the composer, the poet, the author of several hundred songs.
Was born in family of the St. Petersburg merchant of the 1st guild Alexey Kozin and the Gipsy from a choral dynasty Ilyinsky-Sankinykh of Vera Ilyinskaya. The father died early therefore Vadim was forced to interrupt training in a gymnasium to help mother and sisters. Started career of an actor the ballroom pianist, dubbing mute movies. Then began to sing. Performed on stage from 1920th years. Sang in comic chorus "Komkhor" of A. Charov, then began solo performances, sang the Gipsy songs and romances, works by the Russian composers, own compositions. Kozins popularity in the large cities of Russia, and especially in Leningrad, in the 1930th years was fantastic. Poe to memoirs of contemporaries, behind Kozins phonograph records huge turns were built. In order to avoid disorders it was necessary to connect even horse militia. In days of the Great Patriotic War performed with concerts in parts of field army. Poe to the order of the peoples commissar of means of communication for trips was allocated to it the special car. Plates with Kozins records got to special category (were not subject to delivery on melting). At the beginning of December, 1943 Kozin together with Maurice Chevalier, Marlene Dietrich and Iza Kremer participated in a concert for participants of the Tehran conference. In pre-war and military years at Kozin more than 50 plates in Gramplasttrest were released.
C of 1945 Kozins voice was gone from air; plates were not issued. As Kozin wrote to autobiographies of 1959, for some time before arrest it had a verbal conflict with Lavrenti Beria. Many years later Kozin told the journalist that in personal meeting Beria stated him a claim about absence in the repertoire of a song about Stalin. In May, 1944 it was arrested, and in February, 1945 it is sentenced by the Special meeting at Peoples Commissariat for Internal Affairs of the USSR to 8 years of labor camps under 3 articles of the Criminal Code of RSFSR.
B was repeatedly condemned 1959 and served sentence till 1961. Until the end of life lived in Magadan, remaining a peculiar sight of the city, the person legend. At the beginning of the 1990th years in the country interest in the forgotten singer unexpectedly woke up.
