A hydrocortisone – corticosteroids for application in dermatology.

Indications

Superficial not infected dermatosis which is treated local corticosteroids (eczema, allergic and contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, psoriasis).

Continuation of treatment or maintenance therapy of a dermatosis to which treatment in the past stronger corticosteroids were applied.

Structure

• active ingredient: hydrocortisone acetate;
hydrocortisone of acetate of 10 mg contains
• 1 g of ointment;
• other components: paraffin white soft, methylparahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propilparagidroksibenzoat (E 216), lanolin, pental, water the purified, stearic acid.

Contraindication

• injury of skin, caused by bacterial infections (for example a pyoderma, syphilitic or tubercular defeats), viral infections (for example chicken pox, the herpes simplex surrounding herpes, a wart usual, a wart flat, a condyloma contagious); the infections caused by fungi and yeast; parasitic infections (for example mange);
• cankers of skin and wound;
• side reactions caused by corticosteroids (for example, perioral dermatitis, striya);
• ichthyosis, juvenile bottom dermatosis, vulgar eels, rozatsea, fragility of vessels of skin, skin atrophy;
• allergic reactions of hypersensitivity to components of medicine or corticosteroids (the last arise seldom);
• skin new growth.

Side reactions

At topical administration of corticosteroids at the diseases leading to thinning of a cornea or sclera perforation cases. There is information on delay of healing of wounds, a ptosis, a mydriasis, misting of sight. At long-term treatment also development of secondary infectious damages of skin, atrophic changes, a hypertrichosis is possible. At prolonged use of ointment, especially on large affected areas of skin, development of a hypercorticoidism as manifestation of resorptive action of a hydrocortisone is possible. In such cases medicine should be cancelled.

System side reactions at topical administration of corticosteroids at adults arise seldom, but can be serious. Especially it concerns adrenocortical suppression at prolonged use of medicine.

in a small amount to skin 1–3 times a day. At improvement of a state, as a rule, there is enough use of medicine of 1 times a day or 2-3 times a week.

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast

Pregnancy. Contraindicated.

Feeding by a breast. A hydrocortisone, ointment, can apply the nursing women, only at short-term treatment and drawing on small sites of skin. At long-term treatment or drawing on big sites of the affected skin it is necessary to stop feeding by a breast.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or other mechanisms

Is not present data on influence of a hydrocortisone, ointment, on ability to steer motor transport or mechanisms. Emergence of influence is not supposed.

Overdose

At chronic overdose or improper application side effects can arise.

If hypercorticoidism symptoms are observed, treatment it is necessary to stop.
