Freda Payne – Band Of Gold/The Easiest Way To Fall (Invictus – Is-9075, USA, 1970).
"Band of Gold" is the popular song written by the former producers of Motown of Holland-Dozye-Holland (under Edith Waynes pseudonym) and Ron Danbar. On made great success when she was for the first time written down by Freda Paine in 1970 for a label of Invictus belonging to Holland-Dozye-Holland. Pesnya was recorded by many actors, in particular, in 1986 Belinda Carlisle and Bonnie Tyler and also the version of 2007 Kimberly Locke.
Legendary group of authors of songs Holland-Dozye-Holland used a name of Edith Wayne because of trial in which they were involved with Motown. Ron Danbar was a staff member and the producer of Invictus. After Holland-Dozye-Holland left Motown in 1967, all of them still kept in touch with the house group Motown, The Funk Brothers and when they founded own record company, with intention to independently be a producer of songs which they wrote they asked The Funk Brothers to play these songs.
Sessional vocalists of Golden World/Motown Pamela Vincent, Joyce Vincent Wilson and Thelma Hopkins sang background vocals on a plate. Later Joyce and Thelma created the Tony Orlando & Dawn group. Also on a background Freda Paines sister and future participant of Supremes, Sherry Paine who also had a contract with Invictus while participants of The Glass House group sings.
Distinctive party of an electric sitar is played by Dennis Koffi. The solo guitar on this plate is played by Ray Parker Jr. who headed the Raydio group later before becoming the solo performer.
B 2004 of "Band of Gold" of Freda Paine was placed at No. 391 in the "500 greatest songs of all times" list made by the Rolling Stone magazine. Plastinks
