fish oil is a part of medicine vitamin A (Retinolum), d2 vitamin (ergocalciferol), eykozapentayenovy acid, eykozatetrayenovy acid, docsahexayenovy acid. active ingredients of fish oil are polyunsaturated an omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and d2 vitamin. omega-3-polyunsaturated fatty acids (eykozapentayenovy acid (epk) and docsahexayenovy acid (dgk)) which in a significant amount contain in cod liver oil, have the following biological effects: dgk it is necessary for normal development of a brain, nervous system and a retina of eyes of the child; epk is a predecessor of biologically active molecules — eicosanoids which treat thromboxane, leukotrienes, prostacyclins and prostaglandins. eicosanoids — derivatives of saturated arachidonic acid, considerably differ in biological effect of eicosanoids — derivatives epk. so, the thromboxane (tkha2) having the significant vasoconstrictive effect whereas at tkha2, formed from epk, this effect is almost not significant is formed of arachidonic acid. prostaglandins — derivatives of arachidonic acid, are much more active than prostaglandins derivatives epk. decrease of the activity of nonspecific inflammatory reaction at reception of enough irreplaceable omega-3-polyunsaturated fatty acids is explained by it. omega-3-polyunsaturated fatty acids are predecessors of some enzymes, change physical properties of cellular membranes, being a part of phospholipids, directly participate in process of a gene transcription and in the course of linking of proteinaceous molecules with cell membranes. the use of the fish oil containing omega-3-polyunsaturated fatty acids leads to decrease in level of triglycerides, cholesterol, lipoproteids of low density and lipoproteids of very low density, prevalence of vasodilating effect over vasoconstrictive, to increase in elasticity of cell membranes of blood, reduction of activation of thrombocytes and a chemotaxis that reduces viscosity of blood and risk of a thrombogenesis. the specified properties improve microcirculation, especially in the vessels affected with atherosclerosis.

Clinical characteristics.

Indication.

Treatment hypo - and avitaminosis and, diseases of eyes (pigmentary retinitis, a xerophthalmia, a hemeralopia, a keratomalacia), system therapy of damages of skin and mucous membranes, rickets, hypotrophy, acute and chronic respiratory diseases, inflammatory and erosive damages of a digestive tract, urinary tract, acceleration of healing of wounds and mergings of bone changes; prevention of development of atherosclerosis and thrombosis, recovering of normal coagulation from thrombosis.

Contraindication.

Hypersensitivity to medicine components; idiopathic hypercalcemia; hypercalcuria; active forms of a pulmonary tuberculosis; acute and chronic diseases of a liver or kidneys; nefrourolitiaz; chronic pancreatitis; d hypervitaminosis; sarcoidosis; long immobilization; thyrotoxicosis; disturbance of blood clotting; all disturbances connected with bleedings; cholecystitis; acute pancreatitis.

Interaction with other medicines and other types of interactions.

At simultaneous use of medicament with other medicines which contain vitamins A and d the possibility of development of a hypervitaminosis exists.

With extra care should apply Fish oil along with the medicaments influencing blood coagulation. Interaction with acetylsalicylic acid or with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicaments (NPVS) can be also observed. Nasal bleedings, a hamaturia, a melena can be signs of such interactions. Very seldom — vomiting with blood impurity, a pneumorrhagia. In such cases it is recommended to stop medicament use immediately.

Activity of vitamin D can decrease at its simultaneous use with anticonvulsants or barbiturates.

At simultaneous use with estrogen the risk of a hypervitaminosis increases And. Vitamin A reduces anti-inflammatory action of glucocorticoids.

Feature of use.

At intake of fish oil should observe extra care to the patients accepting anticoagulants (for example, warfarin); at damages of heart, acute and chronic diseases of a digestive tract, a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum, a hypothyroidism; patient of advanced age.

is not recommended to use medicament together with other vitamin medicaments which part vitamins A and D are to avoid overdose of these vitamins.

If medicament is appointed courses, it is regularly necessary to carry out laboratory control of parameters of a system of fibrillation (each 2–3 months).

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast.

Route of administration and doses.

Drug dosing is selected individually the doctor. usually adult about 1 tablespoon 2–3 times a day is recommended to accept inside. to children from 4 weeks age to appoint 3–5 drops 2 times a day, gradually raising a dose to ½-1 a teaspoon (2.5-5 ml) in day. to children till 1 year — 1 teaspoon (5 ml) a day, up to 6 years — on 1 teaspoon (5 ml) 2 times a day, of 7 years — on 1 teaspoon (5 ml) 3 times a day.

Is recommended to use medicament courses (2–3 months). After 2–3 months of use it is necessary to carry out control of parameters of a system of fibrillation and depending on result, to continue a course of treatment (after consultation with the doctor).

Children.

Medicine is applied in pediatric practice.

At use of medicament needs to adhere to the specified doses.

Overdose.

At prolonged use of medicament the drowsiness, slackness, a headache, nausea, vomiting, an ostealgia of the lower extremities, demineralization of bones, fervescence, the increased perspiration, skin rashes can arise.

Treatment: symptomatic, medicament withdrawal, restriction of intake of calcium in an organism with food.

Side reactions.

from the immune system: allergic reactions;

from the vascular system: nasal bleedings, the strengthened bleeding from wounds or grazes;

from a digestive tract: insignificant indigestions which can be facilitated a dose decline; diarrhea, exacerbation of chronic cholecystitis, pancreatitis. At prolonged use of medicament in high doses the air exhaled by the patient can smell of fish a little.
