Fairport Convention - Unhalfbricking (Sland Records – ILPS 9102, UK, 1969).
Third album of the British Fairport Convention folk rock group and their second album released in 1969. On is considered as a transitional album in their stories and marked further musical transition from the American influence to more traditional English national songs which began on their previous album "What We Did on Our Holidays" and reached the peak on the subsequent album "Liege & Lief" released later the same year.
Besides several earlier not published songs by Bob Dylan, an album also marked Sandie Dennys arrival as the author of songs with the Who Knows Where the Time Goes? song executed by many other performers and now the considered classics. The only traditional song on an album, "A Sailors Life", is considered rotary in development of the English folk rock music.
Change in the structure of group, caused not only musical orientation, but also external events, note this album as a turning point in the history of group. 1969 was fruitful year for Fairport Convention; from "What We Did on Our Holidays" to "Liege & Lief" in twelve months became an important event.
Alby also brought to group the first success in the British charts, having reached the 12th place in the British chart of albums (the second largest position for all career of group), and the single "Si Tu Dois Partir" reached the 21st position in the British chart of singles. Plastinks
