"Hound Dog" is the blues song on twelve steps written by Gerry Leyber and Mike Stoller. Peacock Records which is originally written down by Big Mama Thornton on August 13, 1952 in Los Angeles and released at the end of February, 1953, "Hound Dog" became the only hit Thornton.
"Hound Dog" registered more than 250 times. The most known version is a record of Elvis Presley in July, 1956 which takes the 19th place in the "500 greatest songs of all times" list according to the Rolling Stone magazine; it is also one of the most sold singles of all times. Versiya Presley who was sold out with a circulation about 10 million copies worldwide was its the most sold song and "a rocknroll revolution emblem". In 1956 she at the same time won first place in pop charts, a country and a rhythm-and-blues and headed pop charts within 11 weeks - a record which stuck to 36 years. Presleys record on RCA of 1956 was brought to the Hall of Fame of the Grammy in 1988 and entered in the "500 songs which created a rocknroll" list of the Hall of Fame of a rocknroll. Plastinks
