Antimicrobial combined medicine for complex treatment and prevention of some infectious and inflammatory diseases of an oral cavity.

Efficiency of medicine is caused by existence of 2 antibacterial components — metronidazole and a chlorhexidin.

Metronidazole — derivative a nitroimidazole which has protivoprozoyny and antibacterial effect. It is active concerning anaerobic bacteria which cause parodont diseases: Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Prevotella denticola, Fusobacterium fusiformis, Wolinella recta, Elkenella corrodens, Borrelia vincenti, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Selenomonas spp.

Chlorhexidin — an antiseptic agent of bactericidal action. It is active concerning a wide range of vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms and also yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses.

Minimum inhibiting concentration (MIK ₅₀ ) metronidazole for anaerobic bacteria — 1 mkg/ml. At topical administration of medicine (drawing on a gum) concentration of metronidazole in gums is much higher, than at oral administration, and the level of system absorption of metronidazole at topical administration is much lower, than at oral. Acute ulitis, sharp ulcer and necrotic ulitis of Vincent; chronic ulitis, including edematous, hyperplastic, atrophic (desquamative) ulitis; chronic periodontal disease; periodontal abscess; recurrent aphthous (ulcer) stomatitis; a toothache at infectious and inflammatory processes in an oral cavity.

Contraindication

Interaction

At topical administration in the recommended doses of system interaction dentagelya with other medicines it is not revealed. however it is necessary to be careful, appointing dentagel with some medicines.

Warfarin and other coumarinic anticoagulants. Metronidazole strengthens anticoagulating action which leads to increase in time of formation of a prothrombin.

Disulfiramum. Simultaneous application enhances toxicity of medicines which can lead to development of neurologic symptoms.

Phenobarbital, Phenytoinum. At simultaneous application with metronidazole the antimicrobic activity of the last decreases. The reason — the accelerated metronidazole metabolism.

Cimetidinum. Suppresses metronidazole metabolism that can cause increase in concentration of metronidazole in blood plasma.
