Dekristolum 500 ME – vitamin D.

Indications

• Prevention of rickets and osteomalacy at children, teenagers and adults.
• Prevention of deficiency of vitamin D at children, teenagers and adults with the revealed risk of such deficiency.
• As addition to specific therapy of osteoporosis at adults.

Structure

• active ingredient: cholecalciferol;
• 1 tablet contains cholecalciferol (in the form of a concentrate [powder form]) 12.5 mkg that there correspond 500 ME D3 vitamins;
• other components: all - rac - the alpha tocopherol, starch corn modified, triglycerides of an average chain, sodium an ascorbate, sucrose, silicon dioxide colloidal waterless, lactoses monohydrate, cellulose microcrystalline, starch corn, sodium.

Contraindication

• Hypersensitivity to active agent or any excipient.
• Hypercalcemia. Hypercalcuria. Hypervitaminosis of D.
• Pseudohypoparathyroidism (the need for vitamin D can be lower, than in the period of normal sensitivity to vitamin, there is a risk of the prolonged overdose).
• Stones in kidneys. Renal failure.
• Sarcoidosis.
• Tuberculosis.
• Additional intake of vitamin D (can lead to overdose).

Side reactions

from the immune system: reactions of hypersensitivity, for example Quincke's disease or laryngeal edema.

from organs of sight: conjunctivitis, photosensitivity.

from a cardiovascular system: arrhythmia, arterial hypertension.

from a metabolism and food: hypercalcemia and hypercalcuria.

from digestive tract: gastrointestinal symptoms, such as lock, meteorism, nausea, abdominal pain or diarrhea.

from nervous system: headache, drowsiness, violation of mentality, depression.

from skin and hypodermic cellulose: an itch, rash on skin or a small tortoiseshell.

from a gepatobiliarny system: increase in activity of aminotransferases.

from mentality: decrease in a libido.

Route of administration

Prevention of rickets and osteomalacy at children, teenagers and adults 1 tablet Dekristolum 500 ME a day (0.0125 mg, or 500 ME, D3 vitamin are equivalent).

. Usually for prevention of rickets at premature newborn children:

• with a weight at the birth> 1500: 1 tablet Dekristolum 500 ME a day (0.0125 mg, or 500 ME, D3 vitamin are equivalent);
• with a weight at the birth <1500 (700 – 1500 g): 2 tablets Dekristolum 500 ME a day (0.025 mg, or 1000 ME, D3 vitamin are equivalent).

Prevention of deficiency of vitamin D at children, teenagers and adults with the revealed risk of such deficiency - babies (0 - 12 months) - 1 tablet Dekristolum 500 ME a day (0.0125 mg, or 500 ME, D3 vitamin are equivalent).

Children, teenagers and adults - 1 - 2 tablets Dekristolum 500 ME a day (0.0125 - 0.025 mg, or 500 - 1000 ME, D3 vitamin are equivalent)).

As addition to specific therapy of osteoporosis at adults - 2 tablets Dekristolum 500 ME a day (0.025 mg, or 1000 ME, D3 vitamin are equivalent).

Prevention of rickets at babies – babies receive Декристол® 500 ME from second week of life until the end of the first year of life. Within the second year of life there can be a need for further application Dekristolum 500 ME, especially in winter time.

Tablet is dissolved in a teaspoon with water or milk and enter the dissolved tablet directly into a mouth to the child, it is preferable at meal time. The tablet is dissolved 1-2 minutes. For dissolution process acceleration the spoon should be moved slightly.

is not recommended to add the dissolved tablet to a bottle for feeding of the child or soft puree as full introduction of a dose cannot be guaranteed. However if tablets need to be entered together with food, it should be prepared at first, and then to allow to cool down before addition of a tablet.

At consumption of the food enriched with vitamins should consider the number of content of vitamin D in it.

Adult.

Pill is taken, washing down with enough water, it is preferable at meal time.

Feature of application

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast

needs to avoid overdose by vitamin D during pregnancy as the long hypercalcemia can lead to delay of physical and intellectual fetation, a stenosis of an aorta and a retinopathy at children.

during pregnancy Dekristolum 500 ME should be applied only in case of need in doses which are really necessary for correction of deficiency of vitamin D.

in breast milk. Overdose cases among babies are not registered. However, the child of additional vitamin D should remember it when assigning.

Children

To prevention of deficiency of vitamin D it is applied to children since the birth.

To prevention of rickets it is applied on the second week of life.

Overdose

D3 Vitamin regulates metabolism of calcium and phosphates, after overdose there are a hypercalcemia, a hypercalcuria, renal kaltsinata and damage of bones and also changes from a cardiovascular system. The hypercalcemia arises after application 50000–100000 ME of D3/days vitamin
