Ointment "Betadin ® " is applied at the following indications:

  • prevention of infections at small cuts and grazes, small burns and insignificant surgical procedures;
  • treatment of fungal and bacterial infections of skin and also infections of decubituses and trophic ulcers.

Structure

Active ingredient - povidone-iodine (1 g of ointment contains 100 mg povidone-iodine).

Excipients: a macrogoal 400, a macrogoal 4000, a macrogoal 1000, a macrogoal 1500, Natrii hydrocarbonas, the water purified.

Contraindication

  • hypersensitivity to iodine or suspicions on it or to other components of medicine;
  • patients with dysfunctions of a thyroid gland (nodal colloidal craw, an endemic craw and Hashimoto's thyroiditis);
  • patients with a hyper thyroidism or other acute disorders of a thyroid gland;
  • before and after treatment and a stsintigrafiya with radioiodine at patients with a carcinoma of a thyroid gland;
  • herpetiform dermatitis of Dyuringa;
  • renal failure.

Route of administration

to use Drug locally.

For treatment of infections: to put 1 or 2 times a day. Treatment duration - no more than 14 days.

For prevention of infections: to put 1 or 2 times a week, so far it is necessary. The affected skin needs to be cleaned and dried up. A thin layer to apply ointment on the struck surface of skin. It is possible to apply a bandage to the processed leather.

Pregnant

Povidone-iodine should be applied in the cases which are strictly appointed by the doctor, but in the smallest doses. Iodine gets through a placental barrier and can get into breast milk therefore there can be a risk of hypersensitivity of a fruit or newborns to iodine. Level povidone-iodine is higher in breast milk than in blood serum. Therefore medicine can become the cause of a hyperthyroidism or to the increased level of terioidny hormone at a fruit or the newborn. Children have a need of check of function of a thyroid gland. It is contraindicated to use medicament after the 2nd month of pregnancy and during feeding by a breast. For the period of treatment it is necessary to stop feeding by a breast.

Children

to Newborns and children up to one year povidone-iodine can be applied only according to strict indications. It is necessary to avoid high doses of iodine to newborns and children of early age as skin has big insight, and to their thicket the hypersensitivity to iodine is observed that increases risk of developing a hyperthyroidism. Such patients should apply povidone-iodine small doses. In case of need to control function of a thyroid gland at children.

This ointment does not influence speed of response at control of motor transport and or work with mechanisms.

Overdose

In sharp iodic intoxication the following symptoms are characteristic

: metal smack in a mouth, the increased salivation, burning sensation or mouth or throat pain; irritation and hypostasis in eyes; skin reactions; gastrointestinal frustration and diarrhea; renal failure and anury; circulatory unefficiency; a laryngeal edema with secondary asphyxia, a fluid lungs, a metabolic acidosis, a hypernatremia.

Treatment: it is necessary to carry out symptomatic and maintenance therapy with special attention to electrolytic balance, function of kidneys and a thyroid gland.

Side effects

from the immune system: hypersensitivity, anaphylactic reactions.

from kidneys and an urinary system: renal failure, sharp renal failure.

from skin and hypodermic fabrics: local skin reactions of hypersensitivity, such as contact dermatitis with formation of psoriazopodobny red small bullous formations; allergic reactions, including an itch, reddening, rash, a Quincke's disease, exfoliative dermatitis, xeroderma, a corrosive and thermal burn of skin.

from an endocrine system: a hyperthyroidism (sometimes with such symptoms as tachycardia or concern); hypothyroidism.

Metabolism and frustration of food: electrolytic imbalance; metabolic acidosis.
