Bar-Kays – Soul Finger/Knucklehead (Volt – 45-148, USA, 1967).
"Soul Finger" is the first single of rhythm-and-blues The Bar-Kays group. On was let out by Stax Records on Volt Records label on April 14, 1967.
Pesnya was written to Bar-Kays when they rehearsed J.J. Jacksons cover version of "But Its Alright" with Norman Vest. On begins with a melody of the popular childrens song "Mary Had a Little Lamb", and then crashes into the main reef accented by a high trill of a pipe. The chorus from neighbours children who loafed about near studio was attracted; to them Soul Finger was told to shout "!" also paid with Coca-Cola. The idea of the name and shouts came to mind to authors of Stax Isaac Hace and David Porter.
"Soul Finger" became a hit in the United States, having reached peak on the 3rd place in the single chart Billboard R&B of the USA and on the 17th place on Billboard Hot 100. The B-party of a single - "Knucklehead", is written by the Booker T. Jones and Steve Kropper which reached number 28 in a chart of the singles R & B and number 76 in Hot 100. "Soul Finger" and "Knucklehead" were the first two tracks of the first album Bar-Kays "Soul Finger" which is released on July 10 after nine more tracks were written down on June 23. Plastinks
